During your stay with ExciTES, you will be introduced to a variety of engineering fields including electrical engineering, materials engineering, civil engineering and computer science through inquiry-based/team-oriented projects. You will conduct experiments in UTEP Engineering laboratories and facilities working side-by-side with UTEP engineering faculty and students.

ExciTES encourages students from the El Paso/Ciudad Juarez region to use their knowledge, imagination, and creativity and apply it to traditional math and science problems. All the activities during the week are structured into a team environment where you will engage in hands-on and thematic modules. Rising sixth graders through high schoolers are eligible to attend.

The objectives of ExciTES are to 1) create awareness of the diverse fields of engineering and science and 2) encourage participants to attend college; specifically, UTEP's Colleges of Engineering and Science.

Registration fee is $175 per student per week. Fee will be collected the first day of the session. Do not send payment prior to being accepted. Sessions have limited capacity, so register as soon as possible.

ExciTES Scholarships are available to subsidize the registration fee!!! Please make sure to complete the Personal Statement within the on-line application and submit today!

2012 ExciTES Sessions:

  • Session I: June 4 - 8, 2012 (grade level: 9 & 10)
  • Session II: June 11 - 15, 2012 (grade level: 6 & 7)
  • Session III: June 18 - 22 and 25 - 29, 2012 (2-week session; grade level: 6 thru 10)
  • Session IV: June 25 - 29, 2012 (grade level: 7 & 8)
  • Session V: July 9 - 13 and 16-21, 2012 (2 week session; ages: 14-17)
  • Session VI: July 23 - 27, 2012 (grade level: 6 thru 10)
  • Session VII: July 30 - August 3, 2012 (grade level: 8 & 9)
