Several studies have demonstrated the importance of undergraduate research in the retention of diverse students in fields in which they are underrepresented and in students' pursuit of graduate education. As a researcher, I am always willing to provide the best research experiences possible for those students who are eager, self motivated, serious and committed to undertake a research project in my lab. My believe is that research at the undergraduate level is primarily designed to teach students something about what research in my area of expertise entails, so that they may make sound decisions about their own future career paths. Undoubtedly, I will be always proud to see my students accomplish specific research goals, succeed, and excel in their development as young scientists.
