The College of Engineering Tau Beta Pi, Malone Engineering Leadership Program, the Entering Student Program and the UTEP Career Center presents the Internships: Connections to Your Future Seminar on Friday, October 26, 2012 at 12:30pm in the Undergraduate Learning Center (UGLC) room 128.

This seminar consists of a series of student-driven initiatives that intent to emphasize the importance of pre-professional experiences among engineering students helping them to reach their educational and professional goals thru experiences beyond the classroom.

The objective of these seminars is to have an internship lecture series that consists of two internship presentations every week. Attending audience will select the best presenter. Among the seminar presenters are students that completed internships with NASA, British Petroleum, Exxon Mobil, Lockheed Martin, General Motors, AT&T and more.

On October 26, there will be a special guest and presenter Dr. Bertschinger a Professor and Department Head of Physics at MIT, whose work focuses of cosmology, and astrophysics. Internship presenters will be Ramiro Piñon UTEP Mechanical Engineering student and MIT Undergraduate Researcher and Jonathan Tavarez UTEP Civil Engineering student and Georgia Tech Researcher.

Ramiro's research experience comprises undertaking research projects in laboratories like the W.M. Keck Center for 3D Innovation at UTEP, the Vibrations and Acoustic Laboratory at the University of Michigan, and the Bioinstrumentation Laboratory at MIT.

Jonathan recently participated in the 2012 Summer Research Experience (SURE) Program at the Georgia Technology, where he supported projects for the Computer-Aided Structural Engineering (CASE) Center.
