UTEP College of Engineering hosts NCEES Engineering Award Presentation
October 02, 2012
On October 9, 2012 the Civil Engineering Department will host the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) Award Presentation for the project "Multidisciplinary SMART Design of Fire Station 513". The presentation will begin at 11:30 a.m. in the College of Engineering Foyer. David Howell, P.E., Director of Licensing for the Texas Board of Professional Engineers will present the award.
The project was a collaboration between the City of El Paso and UTEP Civil Engineering's Senior Project class. The project is part of the Engineering in Practice Program directed by Dr. Carlos Chang, Assistant Professor from the Civil Engineering Department.
Designing Fire Station 513 provided UTEP graduate and undergraduate Civil Engineering students the opportunity to apply professional skills with the technical preparation on a project to benefit the community. Students worked with UTEP faculty and licensed professional engineers to make the fire station design a success.
