Rumpf Appointed to Endowed Professorship

Raymond Rumpf, Ph.D.

Raymond C. Rumpf, Ph.D., has been appointed to the Schellenger Professorship in Electrical Research at The University of Texas at El Paso. The purpose of the Schellenger Professorship is to stimulate and promote funded research within the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.

The goal of Rumpf's research at UTEP is to further the development of 3-D printing for electromagnetics to enhance the revolutionary technologies 3-D printing can enable. Throughout his career, Rumpf has authored dozens of peer-reviewed journal articles and has been awarded more than a dozen U.S. patents. Rumpf is currently an associate editor for The International Society for Optics and Photonics's (SPIE) journal Optical Engineering and serves as a co-chair for SPIE's Micro-Opto-Electo-Mechanical Systems Conference.

Prior to joining UTEP in 2009, Rumpf was the chief technology officer for Prime Photonics, LC. He earned his doctorate in optics from the University of Central Florida in 2006.

Rumpf officially begins the professorship on Tuesday, Sept. 1.
