The Texas Society of Professional Engineers (TSPE) awarded the 2016 Excellence Award to the TSPE-UTEP student Chapter for promoting professional practice.
"We are so proud of the UTEP student chapter," said Nancy Blackwell, TSPE President. "They have worked so hard to create a strong connection with the El Paso professional chapter and provide a positive experience for all student members. This is a well deserved recognition."
The award ceremony took place on June 22 during the 2016 professional engineers conference in Dallas, Texas. The following UTEP students, Aldo Torresdey, Nancy Lopez, Adrian Terrazas, Omar Marquez, Fernando Soto, Shahrouz Jafarzade, Gitzel Moncivais, and Joshua Tavarez attended the award presentation with their advisor, Carlos M. Chang, Ph.D.
Nancy Lopez mentioned, "It was an honor for the TSPE-UTEP student Chapter to receive this distinguish award".
"This award is the result of the hard work and commitment of the students to participate in joined activities with the professional local Chapter in El Paso," said Chang.
The TSPE-UTEP student Chapter provides unique networking opportunities for the students to get a closer look to the professional world through internships, fellowships, and visits to engineering firms. During the visit to Dallas, John Jo, TSPE Executive president, invited UTEP to Huitt- Zollars Inc.
