UTEP ExciTES Summer Camp Free for Two Weeks
June 14, 2012 | UNIVERSITY COMMUNICATIONS
The University of Texas at El Paso will offer one session of the ExciTES Summer Institute free of charge to participants.
The free camp, offered through UTEP's College of Engineering, will be sponsored by a state agency. Session V for ages 14-17 (July 9-13 and 16-21) will be free of charge to participants. Registration is normally $175 per student per week.
The session will align with business needs of industry clusters. Topics include advanced technologies and manufacturing, aerospace and defense, biotechnology and life sciences, information and computer technologies, and energy.
During ExciTES, participants will be introduced to a variety of engineering fields through inquiry-based and team-oriented projects. Students conduct experiments in the UTEP engineering laboratories and facilities while working side-by-side with UTEP engineering faculty and students.
ExciTES encourages students to use and apply their knowledge, imagination and creativity to traditional math and science problems. All activities during the sessions are structured in a team environment where students engage in hands-on and thematic modules.
The session has limited capacity and immediate registration is suggested. For more information about ExciTES and to register, visit http://engineering.utep.edu/plaza/excites/index.html
