UTEP to Host Industrial, Manufacturing and Systems Engineering (IMSE) Day
The Industrial, Manufacturing and Systems Engineering department and College of Engineering at the University of Texas at El Paso will host the third annual Industrial, Manufacturing and Systems Engineering Day (IMSE) Day on April 21 and 22 at the El Paso Natural Gas Conference Center on campus.
The theme of this event is "Internet of Things (IoT)", which is defined as a network of physical objects with embedded electronics to enable better service by exchanging data with operator or other devices, and it is free open to all students and faculty. Attendees must pre-register online or register onsite at 8:30 am on Thursday, April 21. Technical presentation will be followed by opening remarks from Dr. Carlos Ferregut, Dean of College of Engineering.
The seminars will conclude at 5:00 pm on April 21 and the remaining workshops will continue until noon on April 22. The IMSE Day will finish with lunch and closing remarks from 12:15 pm to 1 pm Friday.
This IMSE Day aims to develop leadership skills and enhance technical background among students and strengthen the interactions and collaboration efforts between academia, government, and industry.
Seminar and workshop presenters will include a mix of members from the El Paso community and members of universities and industries around the country. Attendees will have the opportunity to listen to a variety of talks about IoT, Smart City and Transportation, Tele-medicine, Systems Engineering and Green Energy Manufacturing Innovations among others.
"Through the feature seminars and technical workshops relevant to IoT, our students will not only acquire advanced IT knowledge, but also enhance their technical leadership skills and hands-on experience," said Bill Tseng, Ph.D., chair and professor of IMSE. "Besides, through completion of the seminar/workshop series, all participants will receive a certificate to recognize their efforts in continuous education."
