UTEP's Mining Minds to be Illuminated in Blue and Orange for TCM Day

UTEP's Mining Minds
The Mining Minds pick at the UTEP roundabout will be illuminated in blue and orange on Thursday evening, March 8, in honor of the 53rd annual TCM Day: the oldest continuing tradition celebrating the heritage of the university.
Mining Minds is an iconic piece of public art installed in 2010 to enhance The University of Texas at El Paso campus. At night, orange lights illuminate the steel structure while LEDs emanate from the perforated ones and zeroes at each end of the pick.
On special occasions, including historic dates, major annual milestones and to celebrate special accomplishments, the pick will be illuminated in blue and orange.

About TCM Day:
The College of Engineering considers activities of The Order of St. Pat, also known as TCM Day, an opportunity for students to learn about its heritage and to share in the camaraderie that exists amongst UTEP engineers. Each year engineers across the country celebrate the day of Saint Patrick, the patron saint of engineers. UTEP engineers also celebrate TCM Day, which is one of the oldest traditions and can be traced back to 1949. The college commemorates the old rivalry between engineers and liberal arts students through activities such as singing the Engineer's and Mickey Mouse songs, witnessing the Coming of St. Pat and kissing the Blarney Stone.
